Introducing Brooklyn Marie Haan

Well, we are joining the blogging world. I guess up to this point, Eric and I had pretty boring lives. Now that we have Brooklyn, we have something worthwhile to blog about :) It's amazing how your life can change so quickly!

I hadn't been feeling the best on Sunday, Dec. 21 and thought that I must have caught the flu from some of my students at school. Since church was cancelled for the day due to the weather, I took a nap and basically laid around all day. Around 6:00 that evening contractions started. They definitely were stronger than Braxton Hicks! We called the hospital at 9:00 when contractions were 5-7 min. apart and they said to come in. We were somewhat expecting to be sent back home since I was 2 weeks early. Our doctor was on-call that night and he informed us that we were definitely staying. I'd like to say that all my snow shoveling the day before had something to do with it :) Around 10:30 the doctor broke my water and contractions started coming 2 minutes apart. At 3:00 I was ready to start pushing and at 4:06 Monday morning, December 22, Brooklyn Marie Haan was born weighing 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 21" long. As you can see from the pictures, she came out with a full head of hair. Eric and I were not expecting this!

So far she has been a very good baby. She will sleep for about 3-4 hours at a time. At her doctor's appointment on Friday she weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. so she is growing like a weed! It's crazy how much she changes from day to day. We praise God that he gave us a beautiful, healthy girl just in time to celebrate Jesus' birth. This was the best Christmas gift ever!
Enjoy the pictures!
